What’s New?
Happy Autumn! Lidia Varesco Design is currently hard at work on lots of
projects... a logo for a specialty grocery, collateral materials for a
business center and a music CD cover, just to mention a few.
Featured
Design Project:
This issue’s featured project is an identity and collateral for
SHOP Lakeview, a shopper's rebate program sponsored by
the Lakeview SSA #27. The client wanted a logo that would be eye-catching
and bold, appropriate to different types of merchants, and easily adaptable
to a winter holiday theme. The logo that was created features a bright
color palette and stylized shopping bag graphic to suggest the theme of
the program. The program ran from August through Labor Day; a holiday
SHOP Lakeview program will be starting later in the fall. For
information visit http://www.shoplakeview.net.

Autumnal
Equinox Fun Facts
- This
year, the Autumnal Equinox fell on September 23rd.
-
At the Autumnal Equinox, the sun appears to cross the celestial equator
from north to south, thus marking the beginning of autumn in the Northern
Hemisphere.
-
The word “equinox” means equal night; the Autumnal Equinox
marks the time of year when day and night are equal.
-
The full moon associated with the Autumnal Equinox is known as the Wine
Moon, or the time of year when grapes are harvested and the process
of winemaking is started.
-
The Autumnal Equinox is considered a time to harvest; a time to reap
the benefits of projects started earlier in the year.
-
A common myth says that on the Equinox, an egg can be balanced vertically
(on its wider end). Though scientific evidence seems to negate it, it’s
still a fun trick to try…
